Co-op Opportunities

What is a co-op opportunity?

Co-op placements are paid job assignments with the Alberta government that allow students to learn about working for government and develop work place skills.

They are a component of various post-secondary programs and are designed to match a student's academic study with related hands-on experience in the field of their choice. Co-op students take on a number of short-term assignments and projects during their placements.

How long are the placements?

Most co-op placements are between four and eight months in length.

How do I find out about current opportunities?

Post-secondary institutions partner with employers to provide students with opportunities for co-op placements.

The co-op opportunities available with various Alberta government ministries are usually advertised at the post-secondary institutions that participate in co-operative education programs.

You may also contact the Alberta government ministry in which you would like to work, to let them know about your co-op program and your interest and qualifications.

How to apply?

If an opportunity interests you, contact the Co-op placement office at your college or university.
